Stephanie teaches Printmaking and Books as Art at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Natick, MA. She writes:
I had a lot of fun making the bookmarks. I printed over some sample prints from a former unsuccessful project. The paper was just the right weight and color for bookmarks. The design was inspired by book pages as seen from the side. The arabesque curve is repeated as an abstraction of open pages. I painted the image in ink then scanned it, printed it on a transparency and exposed the image on a screen and printed it by hand. There are variations in the prints because of the earlier images, printed in silver, transparent green and red, show through in some areas and add depth. I hope that these delight those who find them and spread awareness of the terrible events of March 5, 2007.
