My bookmarks are very simple in design, red letterpress text on scrap pages from “The Book of Witness and Words,” my contribution to the artist book branch of this project. Differing bits of fragmentary text can be found on the backs of the bookmarks, hopefully enhancing their enigmatic appeal. All 45 have now been placed around the suburban Boston area — in mailboxes, in purses and books and pockets at a local thrift store, in magazines at doctors’ offices and art studios, among deposit slips in banks, in branches of bushes around town. . . . and more.
The bookmarks in these photos are the 5 that I have reserved for the archive.
